Financial Accountant - 8-Month FTC

Windsor / Hybrid or Remote UK
 
We’re looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Group Finance team on an 8-month fixed-term contract.
There’s a major systems implementation happening in the background, so we need someone who can come in, get to grips with things quickly and take ownership of core financial accounting activity. This is very much a hands-on role. We need someone with strong applied accounting knowledge who’s comfortable doing the work, not just reviewing it.

The Role

You’ll help keep business-as-usual finance running smoothly across a number of UK entities, covering statutory reporting, month-end, VAT, audit and financial controls.
You’ll be joining an international environment, so experience within a listed/PLC or international group would be particularly useful.
 

 

Responsibilities

What you’ll do

  • Prepare statutory accounts and support year-end reporting.
  • Run and support month-end close and financial reporting. 
  • Prepare VAT returns and support other tax and regulatory reporting.
  • Manage accounting and reporting across multiple UK legal entities. 
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journals and supporting analysis. 
  • Support interim and year-end external audits. 
  • Maintain robust financial controls and good supporting documentation. 
  • Support system testing, reconciliations and transition activity where needed

 

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

  • Strong, hands-on financial accounting experience.
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts and VAT returns.
  • Experience working within an international business, ideally a listed/PLC environment. 
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification/part-qualification, or equivalent experience. 
  • A solid understanding of balance sheets, reconciliations and financial controls. 
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to pick up systems and processes quickly. 
  • IFS experience would be a real advantage, although it’s not essential.
  • The confidence to work independently, ask sensible questions and get stuck in.

What you’ll get

This is an 8-month FTC, with the option to be Windsor/Hybrid based or work remotely within the UK.
