The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, this role ensures accurate, timely, and efficient shipment of finished goods, while maintaining safety standards, quality expectations, and team productivity and is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring timely deliveries of product to our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that shipments are made in an effective manner, complying with shipping instructions and customer specifications, with the required legal documentation in the correct form.
  • Coordinate with carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, LTL freight) to schedule shipments, meeting the specifications set for each product or material.
  • Contact customs brokers, forwarders or couriers for the coordination of the shipment clearance.
  • Track shipments and resolve delays or issues
  • Verify accuracy of orders, packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping documentation and investigate discrepancies or damages
  • Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and staging of outbound shipments and sorts material according to size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company regulations
  • Ensure proper documentation for domestic/international shipments
  • Optimize shipping methods to reduce cost while meeting deadlines
  • Ensure correct picking, packing, and staging of materials
  • Maintain inventory accuracy within shipping areas
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with audits as needed
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or shipping errors
  • Provide daily direction, training, and support to shipping team members
  • Assign tasks and balance employee workload to meet operational goals while promoting a positive team environment focused on safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Assist in onboarding and training new employees as needed.
  • Maintain and ensure department members maintain clean, neat, and well-organized work area.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures in order to have an adequate and safe work shift.
  • Communicate with manager if any unusual situations require attention.
  • Provides additional support to manager as necessary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of shipping systems (ERP, WMS)
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to read, understand and follow instructions and safety regulations
  • Basic Math skills
  • Must work independently and as a member of the team with a service attitude.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the ability to solve problems.
  • Must possess a strong sense of time management and organization.
  • Must work with a sense of urgency.
  • Must have good communication, leadership, and training skills.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc) required. Previous ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) experience preferred.
  • Must possess knowledge of shipping international shipments and documentation; goods receipt and inventory accuracy.
  • Previous shipping and/or warehouse experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with import and export documentation preferred.
  • An individual that is:
  • Citizen of the United States; or
  • Permanent resident alien of the United States; or
  • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)

Physical Requirements

  • Must pass eye exam
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for an 8 hour shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. continually
  • Exposure to the manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment
  • Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, heat and odors
  • Considerable climbing, walking, and standing is required to perform work.
  • Required to reach above shoulder height and/or below the waist
