Overview

Project Accountant

UK (Remote) with travel to Engineering Ceramics sites – Rugby, Warwickshire & Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire
Contract - 2‑year contract

Help steer a major project with solid finance governance (and the numbers to back it up).

We’re looking for a Project Accountant who can bring order, clarity and a calm head to a complex, multi‑year programme of work. You’ll be joining our Engineered Ceramics business and working closely with project and senior leaders to make sure every financial decision is grounded in reality, not guesswork.

If you like variety, visibility, and work that genuinely influences outcomes, this one’s for you.

The Role

You’ll own the full lifecycle of project accounting across a substantial, multi‑year project. That means budgets, forecasts, cost control, monthly reporting and scenario modelling — and being the person who can explain the numbers in plain English to people who’d rather not stare at spreadsheets.

You’ll partner closely with the project team, challenge assumptions (politely, but firmly), and keep us compliant, controlled and financially sound.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Run full end‑to‑end project accounting across a complex, high‑value project.
  • Prepare and analyse budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
  • Produce monthly financial statements and clear variance commentary.
  • Model scenarios against the business case to help manage risk as things evolve.
  • Work hand‑in‑hand with project teams to provide insight and maintain financial discipline.
  • Lead financial reviews and support senior decision‑making.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, controls and contract requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits with accurate, reliable data.
  • Spot financial risks early — and help us deal with them.
  • Improve processes, reporting tools and anything else that’ll make project finance cleaner and easier.

Qualifications

About You

You’ll bring:

  • 5+ years in finance, including at least 2-3 in project accounting or a project‑heavy environment.
  • A recognised qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
  • Strong technical accounting skills and experience in complex or multinational projects.
  • Advanced Excel skills — the kind you’ve actually used, not just ticked on a CV.
  • Sharp analytical skills and solid attention to detail.
  • The ability to explain financials to people who don’t speak “finance.”
  • Good organisational habits and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • A proactive, collaborative style and the confidence to work independently.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or similar environments.
  • Exposure to long‑term or capital projects.
  • Familiarity with project reporting tools or ERP systems.

What You’ll Get

A meaningful role in a business that takes integrity, collaboration, innovation, ambition and — above all — safety seriously. You’ll have the flexibility of remote work, combined with time on-site where the project happens. You’ll also get to influence a major programme from beginning to end, with support from a global finance function.

If this sounds like you, apply now.
