Responsibilities

We run a busy manufacturing site in Augusta, GA, and safety isn’t something we bolt on at the end. It’s how we operate. This role sits at the heart of that.

As our Health & Safety Manager, you’ll lead how health and safety really works on site — not just policies and paperwork, but day‑to‑day behaviours, conversations, and decisions that keep people safe and compliant.

The role

You’ll be the go‑to person for all things health and safety at the site. That means working closely with operations, leading safety programs, coaching leaders and employees, and making sure we meet regulatory requirements without losing sight of common sense.

You’ll also act as a thinkSAFE ambassador, helping build a culture where people look out for each other and speak up — not just tick boxes and move on.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and run the site’s health & safety programs to meet federal, state, and local regulations
  • Partner with operations leaders to embed safe work practices into daily routines
  • Lead health & safety audits, investigations, and corrective actions
  • Own the site’s industrial hygiene program, including exposure monitoring and reporting
  • Manage and coach the EHS Technician and oversee plant safety equipment and systems
  • Drive safety culture initiatives, safety teams, and proactive programs
  • Deliver and coordinate thinkSAFE and other required H&S training
  • Maintain training records, compliance documentation, and OSHA logs
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and job hazard assessments
  • Communicate monthly H&S updates, trends, and lessons learned to the workforce

The above is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required.  Other duties may be assigned. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.  Employee(s) will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by any person authorized to give instructions or assignments.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

  • 5–7+ years’ experience in a health & safety or EHS role, ideally in manufacturing
  • Solid working knowledge of OSHA and health & safety regulations
  • Experience leading audits, investigations, and industrial hygiene activities
  • Confidence influencing leaders and frontline teams — you can explain the “why”
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • A practical, hands‑on approach to safety (you’ve been on the floor, not just behind a desk)

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • CIH certification
  • Experience with airborne fiber monitoring or similar industrial hygiene programs

What you’ll get

  • A visible, influential role with real ownership of site safety
  • The chance to shape and lead a strong safety culture
  • Close partnership with site leadership and operations
  • A stable, manufacturing environment where safety genuinely matters
