The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities

The Quality Manager, reporting to the Site Leader, is a key member of the site leadership team, responsible for driving process stability, reducing variation, and improving overall business performance through strong quality systems, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration.

This role ensures compliance with aerospace and medical device regulatory requirements while partnering with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to improve yield, reduce cost of poor quality, and strengthen customer confidence.

The Quality Manager establishes a culture of ownership, transparency, and disciplined execution to support long-term growth and operational excellence.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as Management Representative for ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, ISO 14001, and NADCAP.
  • Ensure the quality system drives operational performance, not just compliance.
  • Continuously improve the effectiveness and simplicity of the quality management system.
  • Integrate risk-based thinking into daily decision making and process control
  • Lead deployment of statistical process control and process monitoring systems to reduce variation and improve predictability.
  • Establish governance for control plans, process validation, and measurement system reliability.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to standardize processes and eliminate undocumented workarounds.
  • Drive root cause and corrective action activities focused on systemic improvement rather than containment alone.
  • Develop and maintain real-time visibility to quality and process performance using data analytics and digital tools.
  • Use data to proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities before customer impact.
  • Ensure data integrity and alignment between ERP, quality systems, and operational reporting
  • Serve as the primary quality interface for key customers, supporting business reviews, performance discussions, and recovery actions.
  • Lead responses to customer concerns and regulatory findings with urgency and transparency.
  • Build long-term customer confidence through proactive communication and demonstrated process control.
  • Develop a risk-based supplier quality strategy aligned with business and customer needs.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to strengthen supplier capability, reduce variability, and mitigate risk.
  • Lead supplier development initiatives and escalation processes for critical suppliers

  • Act as a trusted partner to Operations, Engineering, and NPI teams to improve process performance and launch quality.
  • Facilitate structured problem solving and drive alignment on priorities and decisions.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across functions
  • Lead site-level continuous improvement initiatives focused on variation reduction, process capability, and defect prevention.
  • Mentor teams in structured problem solving and Lean methodologies.
  • Support development of future quality and operational leaders.
  • Build and develop a high-performing quality organization with strong technical and leadership capability.
  • Establish clear expectations, accountability, and professional growth plans.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, trust, and ownership.
  • Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Perform various tasks as needed from manager.
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations and with Morgan New Bedford, MA EHS Guidelines. Guidelines include but not limited to participation in required EHS training and use of proper PPE. Employees are responsible for reporting hazardous conditions and job-related injuries or illnesses to their supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Engineering, preferably Mechanical from an accredited college or university.
  • 5+ years working experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Aerospace/Medical Manufacturing environment
  • ASQ-CQE Certification is desirable but not required.
  • Experience with CFR Title 21, Part 820, ISO 9001, 13845, AS9100, NADCAP (Welding)
  • Ability to articulate a vision and strategy in a way that inspires and motivates a team and focuses their energy on achieving business goals. Respectful and outstanding leadership skills that motivate staff to exceed expectations.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within timeframes.
  • Ensure accountability for results that maximize contribution to business objectives.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. Hired employees are required to provide proof that they are a U.S. Person as defined by 22 CFR §120.15.
  • This position requires use of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
  • Individual must be a:

    • Citizen of the United States, or
    • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
    • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) as defined by 22CFR120.15

Additional Requirements:

  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail.

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format.
  • Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers and superiors in all departments of the Company.
  • Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company.
  • Must have good time management, planning and negotiation skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for the majority of an 8-hour workday.
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
  • Must be capable of traveling within the US and Internationally.
  • Must have corrected eye vision (20/20) with ability to pass Jaeger Vision exam annually.
