Position Overview:


We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Vacuum Casting Operator to join our manufacturing team in producing high-performance brazing alloys. This role involves operating vacuum cast furnaces, preparing metal charges, performing melt operations, and supporting continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience in foundry or furnace operations and a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform charge preparation and melt operations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Set up and operate vacuum casting furnaces to produce high-quality castings to precise tolerances.
  • Select, insert, and position, clean molds; pour metal at specified temperatures.
  • Monitor and control melt and casting processes, document data accurately, and recommend process improvements.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams focused on improving casting operations and overall production performance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Prepare and send metal samples to the lab for analysis
  • Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement projects
  • Accurately record melt and production activity information in required logs or systems.
  • Assist with die setups and safely transfer metal using cranes and related equipment.
  • Clean, maintain, and perform basic maintenance on furnaces and associated equipment.
  • Perform other duties and support manufacturing needs as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a foundry, smelting, metal casting, heat treating, or equivalent manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience operating and maintaining vacuum and/or hydrogen furnaces is highly desirable.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and process documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials and equipment safely – up to 60 lbs.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours or overtime as needed to support production.

Salary: $25.50 - $28.50 per hour.
