Supply Chain Assistant

Location: Redditch

Hours: Full‑Time | Temporary 18 months.

Industry: Precision Engineering / Manufacturing

 

About the Role

We are recruiting a Supply Chain Assistant to oversee the full cradle‑to‑grave supply chain within a precision engineering environment. This role combines purchasing, production control, materials planning, and supplier management to ensure high‑quality components and materials are delivered on time and to specification.

If you have strong experience in precision engineering, CNC machining, or high‑tolerance manufacturing, we want to hear from you.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end‑to‑end purchasing of precision‑engineered components, raw materials, and subcontract services.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers capable of meeting tight tolerances and quality standards.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and long‑term supply agreements.
  • Plan and control production schedules aligned with capacity, customer demand, and engineering changes.
  • Oversee material flow, WIP tracking, and job releases into machining and assembly.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure full material traceability (including CoCs and batch records).
  • Resolve shortages, delays, and supply disruptions quickly and effectively.
  • Support continuous improvement across purchasing, planning, and material control processes.

Skills & Experience

  • Supply chain or purchasing experience in precision engineering, CNC machining, aerospace, automotive, or similar fields.
  • Strong production planning or production control background.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/specifications.
  • Confident negotiator with excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience using D365 and or IFS, ERP systems.
  • Strong focus on quality, accuracy, and on‑time delivery.
