Responsibilities

 

Job Summary:

 

The Lab Technician will support laboratory operations by preparing components and performing routine assembly work, running and maintaining equipment, conducting tests and assisting in brazing research and development efforts. This role requires hands-on work with materials, precise measurements, and complete adherence to safety protocols. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working with complex equipment, chemicals and gases.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, assemble, test, and analyze production brazed assemblies according to established procedures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including furnaces, ovens, measurement tools and ultrasonic cleaners.
  • Perform visual inspections and document findings using photography and basic image analysis.
  • Record and maintain accurate data in physical and digital logs and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper handling of chemicals and materials.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and calibration of instruments.
  • Prepare production assemblies for shipment by collaborating with other departments to prepare certificates, package hardware and generate documents.
  • Assist in brazing research and development efforts.
  • Desire to learn vacuum furnace technology, braze alloy production, brazing fundamentals.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Work inside or near vacuum furnaces following safety protocols.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in a science or technical field preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory in some manner.
  • Familiarity with measurement tools such as calipers, drop gauges, and micrometers.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline.
  • Prior experience in a research and development laboratory, quality inspection department and manufacturing facility.
  • Prior experience working with vacuum equipment, high temperature ovens and furnaces.
  • Prior experience with stereoscopes, visual analytical techniques and basic imaging fundamentals for documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to do basic troubleshoot equipment and processes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments in the facility.

 Individual must be a:

  • Citizen of the United States, or
  • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
  • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) as defined by 22CFR120.15

Salary Range: $30 - $35 hourly DOE

Position is 100% onsite in Hayward, CA
