Overview

Occupational Hygienist – Regional Lead (Europe)

Location: France (Hybrid – ideally near our St. Marcellin site)

Drive regional strategy, strengthen exposure controls, and elevate occupational health across a global manufacturing business.

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Hygienist to lead our programmes across Europe and the UK. You’ll shape strategy, deliver high-quality monitoring, and work closely with our sites to reduce exposure risks and improve employee health. This role is both strategic and hands-on, reporting to our Global Compliance Manager and contributing directly to Morgan Thermal Ceramics’ future.

As the regional technical lead, you’ll guide the occupational hygiene agenda for Europe, support compliance across multiple countries, and embed best practice into daily operations. Your work will influence decision-making, strengthen regulatory performance, and drive long-term exposure reduction across diverse teams and cultures.

If you’re motivated by purposeful impact and ready to grow into a broader global remit, this is a great place to do it.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the regional occupational hygiene strategy and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, internal standards, and industry best practice.
  • Design, coordinate, and perform occupational hygiene monitoring across sites and customer locations, applying recognised methods and analysing data to identify risks, trends, and priority actions.
  • Provide expert guidance on reducing exposure to hazardous substances and support sites in implementing effective controls using the hierarchy of control.
  • Produce clear monitoring reports, communicate insights to operational leaders, and support timely closure of audit findings and improvements to internal control processes.
  • Deliver training, mentor EHS teams, site managers and engineers, and build capability in occupational hygiene across multiple countries.
  • Represent the organisation externally, engaging with regulators, trade associations, and industry programmes.
  • Drive innovation by introducing new technologies and smarter methods that improve monitoring accuracy and compliance effectiveness.
  • Collaborate globally, sharing insights and contributing to the development of future occupational hygiene strategy beyond Europe.
  • Champion continuous improvement, foster a proactive safety culture, and uphold company values and behavioural safety principles.

Qualifications

  • Hold a degree in applied chemistry, chemistry, biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Bring at least 3 years of experience in occupational hygiene, ideally including fibre monitoring or similar specialised exposure assessment.
  • Possess a recognised EHS qualification (French and English qualifications are advantageous).
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical capability with a solid understanding of statistical methods and data interpretation.
  • Confident influencing senior stakeholders and collaborating effectively across different cultures and geographies.
  • Motivated by high standards, compliance, sustainability, and doing what’s right for people and the business.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally, including occasional extended stays at operational sites; proximity to a Morgan facility is beneficial but not essential.

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • The chance to make a real impact on health and safety across a global business
  • Career progression opportunities as this role grows into a global remit
  • A team that values collaboration and doing things right
