Location: Remote (US East Coast) 

Reports to: CIO Office Director 

Contract Role

 

The Role: 

 

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to provide interim coverage and support for our IT modernization programs. This role is critical in documenting and shaping the IT landscape across selected sites, identifying capability gaps, and enabling a smooth transition toward the target architecture. The successful candidate will work closely with program and business stakeholders to provide transparency, ensure alignment, and accelerate delivery.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Capability Mapping: Develop and share a transparent capability map and local application inventory for manufacturing sites. Document both the current “as-is” landscape and the envisioned target state architecture. 

 

Gap Analysis: Identify and document capability gaps. Provide clear reporting on coverage and requirements to support planning and decision-making. 

 

Application Landscape Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of local applications, including purpose, usage, dependencies, and integration points. Build overviews and executive summaries to present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

 

Architecture Documentation: Collaborate with the program team to produce system documentation, clarify architectural principles, and ensure alignment of program deliverables with enterprise standards. 

 

Summaries & Reporting: Create concise architecture summaries, build overviews, and visuals to support program governance, planning, and communication. 

 

Standards & Governance: Ensure architecture deliverables are aligned with enterprise governance frameworks, reference models, and best practices. 

 

Stakeholder Engagement: Work with business unit leads, IT teams, and project stakeholders to gather requirements, validate assumptions, and communicate findings. 

 

Knowledge Transfer: Provide clear documentation and reporting to ensure continuity beyond the contract period

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills: 

 

  • 8+ years of experience as an Enterprise Architect in a global manufacturing organization. 
  • Strong background in capability mapping, application portfolio management, and target architecture design. 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform gap analysis and translate findings into actionable insights. 
  • Prior experience with ERP applications (preferably D365 or equivalent) and associated enterprise applications. 
  • Strong documentation skills with ability to communicate technical and architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies such as TOGAF (preferred), Zachman, or Gartner EA. 
  • Collaborative, structured, and able to operate effectively in a program-driven environment.
