Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and manage the manufacturing processes, methods, and equipment designed to ensure materials that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.  Ensure that these manufacturing processes, methods, and equipment meet or exceed the requirements of our ISO 9001:2015 Certifications and are consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and production goals. Perform roles and responsibilities in accordance with direction from the Process Engineering Manager.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Develops and implements safe, optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes, methods, and equipment platforms.
  2. Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes, including production workflow, machining and finishing operations, assembly methods, and equipment specifications.
  3. Recommends and implements improvements to manufacturing processes, methods, and controls.
  4. Designs, develops, tests, and/or outsources various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods and processes.
  5. Develops manufacturing Drawings, Bills of Materials, Routers, Work Instructions, and Control Plans using manufacturing engineering best practices.
  6. Reviews and/or creates customer engineering drawings and models (2-D and 3-D) to ensure they are appropriate for release to the manufacturing shop floor.
  7. Prepares quotations for labor, tooling, and equipment to support the business unit requirements.
  8. Performs product/process analysis and implements continuous improvement initiatives for cost reduction, scrap reduction, yield improvements and increased overall equipment efficiency.
  9. Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
  10. Represents process engineering on cross-functional teams like RFQ, MRP, and CI.
  11. Participates in engineering feasibility design reviews.
  12. Supports the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
  13. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products, processes, and equipment.
  14. Writes and submits capital expenditure requests.
  15. Evaluates, troubleshoots, and solves production problems on the floor.
  16. Assists in training shop floor associates on manufacturing processes and methods.
  17. Assumes responsibility for the safety and environmental issues associated with the manufacturing processes and equipment.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • S. degree in Material Science or Engineering is desired and often required.
  • Journey-man machinist, tool & die or other related skillset highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years related manufacturing experience is desired.
  • Prior experience working with manufacturing processes that utilize CNC & Manual Machining Equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) is desired.
  • Trained in Fanuk controllers and in depth knowledge of G&M codes highly preferred.
  • Trained in the use of Fusion - AutoCad, Solid Edge or other modeling computer software is desired.
  • Basic understanding of quality management systems in an ISO 9001 is desired.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean/Six-Sigma Manufacturing techniques is desired.
  • Experience with developing/documenting procedures is required.
  • Computer proficiency.

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word-Processing and Spreadsheet (Excel) software.

  • Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company.
  • Must have good time management, planning and negotiation skills.
  • Must adhere to all Company policies.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for the majority of an 8-hour workday.
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
  • Must be capable of traveling within the US and Internationally.
