Overview

A New Product Introduction Engineering Lead is responsible for overseeing the entire process of bringing new products to market, from manufacturing to launch. 

This role involves leading cross-functional teams, ensuring smooth transitions from research and development to production, and optimizing manufacturing processes for efficiency and quality. 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading the NPI Process:
    This includes developing and implementing plans to move products from initial design to full-scale production, ensuring all milestones are met and timelines are adhered to. 
     
  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership:
    Collaborating with various teams like engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality assurance, and potentially external suppliers, to ensure seamless integration and execution of the NPI process. 
     
  • Technical Expertise:
    Providing guidance on product design, manufacturing processes, and troubleshooting, often involving hands-on technical execution. 
     
  • Quality Assurance:
    Ensuring products meet quality and performance standards, including validation, reliability testing, and addressing any quality excursions during production. 
     
  • Process Optimization:
    Identifying and implementing improvements to manufacturing processes, reducing cycle times, and enhancing overall product quality. 
     
  • Documentation and Compliance:
    Managing product documentation, including BOMs, engineering change orders (ECOs), and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. 
     
  • Factory Readiness:
    Preparing the manufacturing facility for new product launches, including equipment setup, process validation, and training. 
     
  • Supplier Management:
    Overseeing supplier qualification, PPAP activities, and validation of external manufacturing processes. 
     
  • Travel:
    The role may involve international travel to collaborate with global teams or visit suppliers.
