The Performance Carbon business of Morgan Advanced Materials makes high-performance self-lubricating bearing and seal components, predominantly used in pumps, industrial and domestic, or other sealing applications.

We use advanced carbon/graphite, silicon carbide, alumina and zirconia materials to engineer lightweight, low-friction bearings and seals. These materials help solve the problems associated with the use of lubricants in extreme temperatures, corrosive or hygienic environments where access is restricted, and are engineered into products which provide customer-specific solutions.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the production scheduling and inventory management of assigned product lines.  Establish production schedules, analyze and project production line lead-times.  Maintain and monitor proper inventory levels for all stock and non-stock items.  Monitor and place replenishment orders regularly. Work to minimize obsolete and surplus inventory items.  Assist in developing procedures for proper inventory control. Supervise Shipping and Receiving Department personnel to assure accurate inventories, proper pack methods, proper shipping methods and all appropriate paperwork is maintained.  Maintain inventories on all shipping supplies to conform with requirements while complying with budget guidelines. Responsible for the supervision of Shipping, Receiving, Storage and Replenishment of packing supplies, Materials, finished goods, and blank stock (except replenishment).  Meeting schedules set by self and others to meet manufacturing and customer commitments. Responsible for reporting and reconciling physical inventories of pack supplies, misc. materials, finished goods and blank stock items. Provide data, reports and overall support to the SIOP Process.  

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Supervise and maintain computer inventories on all blank stock, finished goods, pack supplies and other misc. supplies, as well as locator systems for each. Order, reorder and follow up on all purchase orders pertaining to replenishment of pack supplies necessary for customer orders.
  2. Maintain usage rates and revise min/max levels and reorder points of support and supply items.
  3. Issue materials from stores, raw material and support items on the computer using proper charge and credit departments for appropriate record keeping. Follow up and correct errors in charges and inventory balances.
  4. Investigate and answer all complaints through caWeb related to Shipping, Receiving and Stores.
  5. Investigate and determine the best shipping methods for movement of supplies, maintenance equipment and machinery.
  6. File claims for damaged materials from carriers and truck shipments.
  7. Assist shipping clerk with international shipments as needed.
  8. Back up for Shipping Clerk during PTO.
  9. Responsible for the creation of a Master Production schedule and the creation of a Rough-Cut Capacity Plan.
  10. Interface with Sales, Engineering and Production personnel as issues arise regarding customer requirements.
  11. Plan, schedule and monitor the flour and mold schedules for both blank, components and finished goods items.
  12. Manage the limitations of production capacity.
  13. Responsible for monitoring performance regarding commitments for all orders to assure compliance to delivery dates and order acknowledgment schedules.
  14. Call conflicts of demand and capacity to the attention of the other members of management,especially Materials Management, Sales and Manufacturing, or others that need to participate in resolving the conflicts.
  15. Manage forecast consumption; understand the forecasting approach and its limitations.
  16. Participate in the development of the production plan.
  17. Maintain an attainable master schedule.
  18. Monitor consistency with the production plan.
  19. Enter and maintain accuracy of the Item Master MRP planning files in accordance with Computer Operating Procedure (INV001 Item master General Creation and Maintenance)
  20. Attend and participate in meetings dealing with the subjects of scheduling and capacity planning.
  21. Responsible for reviewing and acting upon order release, action messages from the system.
  22. Review and publish order lead time guide daily.
  23. Responsible for monitoring, publishing and distribution of cycle counting accuracy for all inventories.
  24. Perform other duties as may be assigned or required.

Qualifications

Minimum High School Education. Bachelor’s Degree or Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or equivalent of five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

 

Additional Requirements:

  1. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word-Processing and Spreadsheet (Excel) software
  2. Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format
  3. Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers and superiors in all departments of the Company
  4. Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company
  5. Must have good time management, planning and negotiation skills
  6. Must adhere to all Company policies

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for the majority of an 8-hour workday
  2. Must be able to lift 35 pounds
  3. Must be capable of traveling within the US
