Responsibilities

  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
  • Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
  • Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
  • Test operation of machines periodically
  • Fix or escalate issues that might occur during the shift
  • Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
  • On the job inspection.
  • Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
  • Maintain activity logs or clock in System
  • Maintaining the factory machinery
  • Ensuring the smooth and efficient running of machines
  • Gaining a thorough knowledge of a wide range of factory machinery and how it works, Cutting, Grinding, drilling, terminals, line grinder, tamping, riveting, etc
  • Storage and usage of hand tools
  • Adhere to store policies for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Always working safe and maintaining a high standard of housekeeping (5S). Reporting near-misses, unsafe acts, and conditions

 

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • 3-5 Years experience in manufacturing industry
  • Must be able to do basic maths (adding and subtraction)
  • Must be able to speak and understand English
  • Must be able to identify and use basic hand tools (hacksaw, screwdriver, spanners etc.)
  • Must be able to identify and use basic power tools (grinder, hand drill, pneumatic tools etc.)
  • Proven experience as a machine operator
  • He/she must be able to understand and interpret drawings.
  • Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (calliper, micrometre, verniers etc.)
  • Understanding of production procedures
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
  • Attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, Teamwork, Punctuality, Integrity, Respect, Professional reputation maintained as ambassador for company.
  • Physical stamina and strength
  • Able to follow instructions and production schedules
  • Able to act quickly when a problem arises
