Responsibilities

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of warehousing activities to institute best practices in the execution of shipments, receivables, and inventory organization.   This position will utilize your strong management and communication skills to help develop, train and mentor warehouse team members to ensure the team achieves department objectives and individual career goals.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for executing the shipping schedule for the warehouse including leading daily crew meetings, assigning resources to execute work, and prioritizing shipping needs.
  • Supervise and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and the picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance with the highest possible levels of productivity.
  • Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with the warehouse team, to ensure that all paperwork and product is located and properly processed.
  • Participate in establishing work schedules and ensure that schedules are correctly implemented, and jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly.
  • Direct the warehouse leads and warehouse associates to achieve daily and weekly prescribed objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a productive work team by maintaining programs for training, safety, compliance, and skill set building.
  • Review truck schedule daily and utilize the teams to execute strategy across all shipping access points.
  • Stay updated on all issues related to trucking efficiency to avoid delays and ensure stated performance metrics are maintained.
  • Collaborate with customer service staff to inform dispatch and customers of any relevant issues regarding updates of trucking status.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are organized properly to prevent damage and sustain weight and balance requirements.
  • Oversee warehouse team to achieve optimal utilization of space throughout warehouse.
  • Maintain First in First out product rotation and perform physical
  • Understand warehouse needs and be proactive to notify management of any needs that will affect production.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
  • Conduct operations while promoting safety.
  • Monitor and advise manager of warehouse supply needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in Logistics / Warehouse Management preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a distribution center or manufacturing warehouse.
  • Previous experience with modern ERP systems a plus.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, specifically MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes.

SCHEDULE DESCRIPTION

The typical schedule for this position is an 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday. Overtime, holiday, and weekend work as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position will work in both a controlled office and warehousing environment. There will be extended periods on the warehouse floor.
  • The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels when on the production floor.
  • During summer months, employee may have to work in temperatures as high as 110 degrees for prolonged periods of time.
  • The employee constantly works near mechanical parts and lift trucks.
  • Required to wear steel toed shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs in the manufacturing area. Respirators may also be required depending on production area.
