The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities

The Director Human Resources role is a key role on the Technical Ceramics  Leadership Team and oversees the HR function for San Juan del Rio, Mexico Site. In this role you will align HR services and responsibilities with the business needs, working closely with the division Site Leader, and extended leadership team. Through a collaborative and consultative approach, you will define and execute plans to address the strategic people needs of the organization and functions and serve as a key leadership team member, contributing to overall strategic people impacts and business outcomes. Additionally, you will play a key role in fostering a diverse and inclusive culture within our sites across the Americas.  The ideal candidate will be one with both commercial and operational business partnering experience with a proven ability to influence leaders and drive results.

 

The essential duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Partnering with the Vice President Human Resources and the Technical Ceramics Executive team, to develop a deep understanding of the business strategy to build focused people-related, organization strategies
  2. Own and drive key strategic HR objectives such as Talent Management, Performance Management, Talent Development, Talen Acquisition, Leadership Development, Internal Communications, Employee Engagement and more. 
  3. Play a leading role in helping to define, shape and drive a performance culture within the Site
  4. Progress the culture with a focus on safety and ethics as well as sponsor programs and initiatives that drive our leadership behaviors
  5. Promote a diverse and inclusive work environment where colleagues are actively engaged and coach leaders on their responsibility to do the same.
  6. Collaborate with the Technical Ceramics leadership team on organizational effectiveness, design and development initiatives; using tools, processes and past successes, ensure successful facilitation of organization changes.
  7. Enhance people development within the areas supported; leverage existing tools and processes, ensuring leadership accountability, a focus on talent/roles with the greatest potential/needs, and raising the bar on what the organization delivers relative to performance feedback and employee development.
  8. Partner with business leadership to assess current talent and develop or implement long-term talent strategies that ultimately improve the performance of the organization and set it up for longer term success.
  9. Partnering with Talent Acquisition on the sourcing and recruitment process for the division, ensure key positions are filled timely while improving the diversity and level of talent coming into the organization; report on key metrics to measure progress.
  10. Where applicable, ensure implementation of compensation plans and programs that effectively support the business objectives.
  11. Actively support company-wide people initiatives and ensure delivery of programs and initiatives aligned to the overall HR strategy.
  12. Inspire and lead the San Juan del Rio Human Resources team; coach and train team members to be true business partners that understand the business they are a part of, are integrated into that business and provide value to that business.
  13. Ensuring compliance with Mexico national and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; ensuring adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree required; MBA or MS in Human Resources is highly desirable.
  • Must be fully Bilingual English & Spanish.  Must Speak English at an Advanced level.
  • Minimum 10 years of HR leadership responsibility, and broad-based human resources experience with progressively responsible leadership roles
  • Must physically work at the San Juan del Rio Plant each day
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into effective strategies and actions to execute against those strategies
  • Proven accomplishments in leading HR through cultural change efforts and demonstrating value to the business
  • Strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills; must be able to market ideas to a diverse leadership team
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with ambiguity
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, Access); advanced proficiency in Excel preferred
