Responsibilities

Directly responsible for management of the production operations as assigned, from incoming materials to that group to the finished product going to the next customer (internal or external) in compliance with applicable production requirements, quality specifications, and production scheduling. The person supervises, trains, provides guidance, and directs the activities of all subordinates during his scheduled shift.  In doing so he/she enforces production processing guidelines, company rules, plant safety regulations, arranges for coverage of unexpected absenteeism, maintains required process and department records to ensure effective and productive performance.  He/she also determines, recommends, and coordinates department staffing and equipment needs.

Essential Functions:

  1. Maintains a safe workplace through observations, enforcement of plant rules, and communications of potential hazards to management and maintenance for correction.
  2. Manages any issues with incoming material to the operation through the MRB process or quality assurance.
  3. Coordinates necessary staffing to accomplish the production loading per schedule.
  4. Works with production control and customer service to communicate needs and changes as they occur.
  5. Works with other production leadership to share resources when possible for the overall good of the company.
  6. Maintains the quality system compliance by assuring that subordinates are completing required checks of the process, supporting equipment, and product.
  7. Instills a mentality of 5S and lean methods in all subordinates to maintain a an efficient, clean and orderly operation.
  8. Evaluates and contributes to process improvement opportunities.
  9. Directs cross training to allow for a flexible workforce.
  10. Conducts coaching and discipline as necessary in accordance with company rules.
  11. Interacts with support functions to get help when necessary or provide help when requested.
  12. Manages labor and supplies to conform to budgeted guidelines and provide for efficient use of resources.
  13. Performs routine clerical duties such as approving vacation requests, signing employee service record memos, progress reports, overtime records, labor balancing, etc.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements

Associate degree or advanced manufacturing training equivalent to two years, or equivalent manufacturing experience. Requires strong mathematical skills, communication skills, mechanical aptitude, good decision making abilities, and ability to use standard systems in completing activities.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format
  • Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers and superiors in all departments of the Company
  • Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company
  • Must have good time management, planning and negotiation skills
  • Must be capable of walking and standing for the majority of an 8-hour workday
  • Must be capable of climbing stairs
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds

  • Citizen of the United States, or
  • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
