Responsibilities

  • Daily inspection of machines
  • Feedback on daily routine inspection
  • Report writing on findings.
  • Machine services
  • Overhauling units in the workshop after being given instruction from the workshop manager.
  • Ensuring tasks/duties are carried out and completed, in conjunction with the workshop supervisor, keeping the Maintenance Supervisor informed of progress of workshop jobs/tasks.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance servicing as allocated by the maintenance supervisor
  • Adhering to the ‘t’ card system ensuring this is kept updated and works efficiently.
  • Informing maintenance supervisor/ production manager when consumables require reordering, informing maintenance supervisor/ production manager if equipment requires repair/checking.
  • Adhering to health and safety policies in the workshop.
  • Ensuring the workshop is a clean and safe environment to work in.
  • In ‘downtimes’ use the time productively to implement best practices/training
  • Taking instruction to complete workshop husbandry
  • Reviewing drawings and blueprints to establish which materials, methods and settings are required for particular parts and processes.
  • Fitting parts into machinery and equipment, checking parts for accuracy and fit, using tools to cut, file, plane, bore and drill metal.
  • Diagnosing problems with machines and reporting issues to manager, ensuring that health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Creating a suitable maintenance schedule and performing system maintenance accordingly.
  • Conducting diagnostic testing on malfunctioning systems to determine the root cause of the malfunction.
  • Replacing damaged or defective structural components as needed.
  • Adhering to all work-site safety rules and regulations
  • To carry out other reasonable duties as required

 

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 or Equivalent.
  • Time served and qualified fitter who can interpret drawings
  • The ability to use hand and power tools.
  • The ability to demonstrate good problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Practical skills for repairing and maintaining equipment.
  • The ability to work well with your hands.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and under own initiative giving regular feedback the ability to make decisions about tools and equipment.
  • To be thorough and pay attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate working to and achieving targets
  • Flexible and proactive approach to workload.
  • Able to work in a pressurized environment.
