The Thermal Ceramics division designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of thermal insulation products that significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions in a variety of high temperature processing applications. Responsibilities

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Team Leader will report to the Factory Focus Managers with dotted line reporting to the Operation Managers in Standard Fibers, and will under general guidance, direct the production operation of spun / blown fiber, air class and chopping. This person will ensure adherence to quality control standards, ensure adherence to approved safety policies and maintain an environmentally acceptable workplace through good housekeeping practices.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supervises line and furnace operators and line workers with respect to safety, production, cost, quality, and achievement of production plans.
  • Direct the manufacturing of fiber blankets and bulk products and ensure continuous and uninterrupted production and manpower.
  • Safe use of equipment and tools.
  • Manage Operation for maximum efficiency and productivity of production employees.
  • Perform production troubleshooting to maintain efficiencies.
  • Participates in SIM-1 and Sim-3 operations meetings.
  • Coordinate production scheduling with the supply chain team and Factory Focus Manager.
  • Ensure adequate materials, packaging, and supplies are available to meet production requirements.
  • Issue required work orders for maintenance repairs to production equipment.
  • Participate in decisions relating to daily production performance. 
  • Select, train, and develop employees and recommend status changes.
  • Perform routine employee evaluations as needed.
  • Interpret and administer company rules and policies.
  • Implement safety and housekeeping program within the manufacturing areas.
  • Maintain pertinent production and KPI reports.
  • Lead and/or participate in continuous improvements for the area to reduce rejects and downtime and to increase production rates.
  • Work and schedule overtime as needed to meet production needs.
  • Participate and perform autonomous maintenance (TPM) on critical equipment. 
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Approve employee times and time off requests in Asure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least one (1) year in a leadership role.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong mathematical skills, mechanical aptitude and reading comprehension.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook and Excel).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Ability to analyze data and plan improvement activities.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, time management and organizational skills.

SCHEDULE DESCRIPTION

 

The typical schedule for this position is a rotating 12-hour shift schedule. Must be willing to work overtime, holidays and weekends as scheduled.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position will work primarily on the production floor.
  • The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels when on the production floor and wear hearing protection 100% of the time on work floor.
  • During summer months, employee may have to work in temperatures as high as 110 degrees for prolonged periods of time.
  • Dust from machine processes is constantly present.
  • The employee constantly works near rotating equipment, mechanical parts, and lift trucks.
  • Required to wear steel toed shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs in the manufacturing area. Respirators may be required in specific areas of the plant.
  • Ability to maneuver around equipment and on various platforms within the production area.
  • Ability to climb stairs and inspect process equipment.
