The Thermal Ceramics division designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of thermal insulation products that significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions in a variety of high temperature processing applications. Responsibilities

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Quality Manager will, under the general direction of the Sr. Operations Manager, manage the quality systems of the manufacturing facility. This position will develop, implement and manage a quality control system designed to ensure continuous production or products that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. This role will have a key focus on supporting the automotive market and implementation of the IATF 16949 Quality Standard.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure that the quality system exceeds the requirements of customers and 3rd party accreditation bodies and are consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals.
  • Elevating organization from reactive to proactive future state of Augusta manufacturing quality
  • Daily decision making and maintaining alignment with operations/engineering/R&D
  • Automotive Quality Requirements Roadmap and Execution, IATF 16949, MAQMSR
  • Automotive Requirements (PPAP, Ppk Analysis, Quality Survey/Capability)
    • Advancing Engineering and Quality Testing - Quality Analysis, SSA Quality Testing
  • Audits and Systems Management
    • Direction for document control
    • ISO9001 Audit direction and internal audits planning
  • Accountable for Customer complaints management (response/closure)
  • Prioritize resources to execute critical projects (engineering, EHS, and R&D)
  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to a team of quality personnel, to include technicians, supervisors and inspectors.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and production specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
  • Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality objectives.
  • Ensure that documentation and design controls are appropriate for the organization.
  • Coordinate objectives with production procedures with cooperations with operations management and engineering to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Provide and oversee inspection activity for products throughout the entire manufacturing cycle.
  • Interpret and communicate quality control philosophy to all personnel.
  • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting process.
  • Develop and administer effective internal audit system and cadence.
  • Prepare and serve a Quality lead in 3rd party and customer audits.
  • Address non-conformances from all internal and external audits.
  • Conduct periodic Management Review of the Quality Systems.
  • Act as Management representative for the Quality Management System.
  • Follow up on and close pending Preventative and Corrective Action requests.
  • Develop and administer an effective program for control of monitoring and measuring equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution (Ceramic, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical)
  • Minimum (5) five years of experience in manufacturing or related industry, with at least (2) years of leadership experience required
  • Previous experience in automotive field and IATF 16949 standard highly desired
  • IATF 16949 certification preferred
  • Individual must be a
    • Citizen of the United States, or
    • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
    • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324(a)(3)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Demonstrated knowledge in ISO implementation and standards
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques preferred
  • Working knowledge of statistical techniques and tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, specifically MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Ability to analyze data and plan improvement activities.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes.

SCHEDULE DESCRIPTION

  • The typical schedule for this position is an 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday. Overtime, holiday, and weekend work as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position will work primarily in a controlled office environment, however will have extended periods on the production floor.
  • The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels when on the production floor.
  • During summer months, employee may have to work in temperatures as high as 110 degrees for prolonged periods of time.
  • Dust from machine processes is constantly present.
  • The employee constantly works near mechanical parts and lift trucks.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or vapors or hazardous products.
  • Required to wear steel toed shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs in the manufacturing area. Respirators may also be required depending on production area.
