ROLE: IT Infrastructure Specialist

LOCATION: GERMANY REMOTE

CONTRACT: PERMANENT STAFF   

 

OVERVIEW & SCOPE OF ROLE:

As a Hybrid Infrastructure Specialist, you will bridge the gap between the old world of on-premise systems and the new world of cloud technologies. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining our existing on-premise environment while actively contributing to various projects that drive us towards the cutting-edge of modern infrastructure practices. You will be responsible for initial triage of the maintain and operational support of Morgan server infrastructure and related systems, and the remediation of issues in line with defined architecture designs and ITIL best practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsibilities:

 

Infrastructure Support and Maintenance:

  • Support and implement existing infrastructure solutions using best practice principles
  • Ensure that all infrastructure solutions meet Morgan's quality criteria and adhere to the organisation's defined standards.

 

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

 

  • Identify and resolve on-premise/cloud infrastructure issues, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex technical problems related to on-premise/cloud infrastructure components.

 

Project Support:

 

  • Assist project teams in the smooth migration of on-premise solutions to the global cloud models, leveraging best practices and in line with Morgan architectural standards.
  • Operational Standards and Efficiencies:
  • Collaborate in the creation of standard operating procedures to standardise workloads and processes, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing manual interventions.

Testing and Improvement:

 

  • Continuously review and improve runbooks, making recommendations to enhance their reliability, auditability, and maintainability.
  • Infrastructure Review and Standardization:
  • Review physical servers, storage, and accessories, capturing key details into provided templates.
  • Rebuild VMWare or HyperVisor environments based on the defined architectural standards.
  • Build or rebuild Windows Servers, adhering to provided architectural guidelines.

 

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND

 

Experience:

10+ years of experience in the IT sector in general and with more than 5 years’ experience in the respective technical domain, expressing deep and broad knowledge of architecture, IT security, (technology) platforms and business processes for the specific technical domain and with (comparable) business environments

 

Essential Requirements


• Proven knowledge in configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting techniques across VMWare, HyperVisor, and Windows Server 2003 onwards.
• Proven knowledge of Hybrid domain configurations.
• Experience patching and maintaining Windows Servers in line with best practices.
• Understanding of ITIL guiding principles.
• Understanding of high level network protocols, configurations, and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with routers, switches, firewalls, and network security.
• Experience with one or more scripting languages like PowerShell, VB, C++ or Python.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English and German.
• Experience in supporting & monitoring backup recovery solutions.

 

Desirables


• Experience supporting ERP and manufacturing systems.
• Experience in Azure IaaS Infrastructure Administration and build, including backup and monitoring.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code deployments for scalability and ability to pick up new IaC language if not already experienced with Azure Bicep.
• Experience with Azure Automation and PowerShell for creation of Automation Runbooks.
• Experience implementing Azure native storage solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English and local language where applicable

 

Qualifications
While not essential, experience or completion in any of the below would be advantageous.
