Responsibilities

Job Summary

A Senior Production Supervisor Machining Operations is a direct labor role reporting to the Production Manager or Site Manager. This position requires senior machinist level skills and oversees all functions and operations related to the critical machining function in a segment of the total operation of the site.

The primary function is to ensure products are manufactured on time to meet and exceed customer expectations. This requires fostering a strong culture of positive leadership, creating an accountable, engaged workforce with a high level of focus on safety, and continuous improvement.

 

This is a qualified machinist role that serves as a technical resource to all employees and works with management in addressing technical issues related to equipment, set-up and operation, tooling, and inspection techniques. The position drives efforts to improve and standardize production processes, provides training and coaching to team members, and ensures that set-up and operating equipment are capable to produce products to customer requirements with little to no supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls workflow in each of the work centers within the scope of operations. Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring production progress, reviewing employee timecards; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results and opportunities during the weekly ops meetings.
  • Supports Morgan Production Systems and tactical Lean Tools to drive Operational Excellence using Key Process Indicators (KPI) boards, and Daily meetings to drive accountability and continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity
  • Develops team by communicating their job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Maintains an updated training matrix reviewable quarterly with personnel development plans as applicable.
  • Coordinates all the machining production activities for a building. Champion a 6S method for an organized, clean, and safe working environment use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Ensure all manufacturing activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
  • Works with Engineering staff in the design of new tooling for new and existing products. Develops and documents manufacturing processes and procedures for new or newly revised product designs.
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Completes all paper or computer-based reporting on jobs or parts as required in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure that all products are consistently manufactured to the required quality standards, and support continual improvement efforts in product quality, including root cause analysis of customer complaints.
  • Execute daily leadership of production teams using company mandated methods for review of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity (SQDIP) targets.
  • Manage Employee & Production Schedules, Timecard approvals, Sick Time, and Vacation.
  • Motivate, and guide production staff including disciplinary actions.
  • Develop production staff through recruitment, training and coaching.
  • Ensure all supplies, tooling, and materials are on hand to support production plan.
  • Assess capacity and recommend resources to meet operational plans at optimum cost.
  • Lead and/or coordinate Kaizens and similar team-based improvement initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Journey level machinist skills: Proficient in G-code, MasterCAM, CAMWorks, Geopath, CNC controls
  • Competency with Haas, and Fadal controls is highly desirable.
  • This is an on-site position. Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 10+ years’ experience in a precision machining / manufacturing environment

Working Environment

  • Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, with overtime and holidays as required by business needs.

Pay Range:  $44.00 to $48.00 (DOE)
