Responsibilities

Summary:

 

Under the direction of the Hayward Engineering Manager, oversees all functions and operations related to upkeep, repair and improvement of the facility, installation, maintenance and repair of the equipment and security for the facility and employees.

 

Responsible for the management of Facilities Maintenance staff and a wide variety of facilities maintenance operations including facility planning and development, equipment installation, repair and preventive maintenance.  Ensures that the maintenance department objectives are met including project timing, cost and quality factors.  Contracts and manages outside contractors for installations, repairs and service.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities of Facilities Maintenance staff involved in installing, maintaining and repairing company facilities and equipment. Manages Preventive Maintenance program.
  • Responsible for staffing the maintenance area with authority to hire and terminate employment. Prepares and administers performance reviews.  Provides employee motivation, counseling, discipline and performance objectives.
  • Responsible for managing departmental budget and expenses. Reviews and approves invoices and expenses.  Provides monthly analytical reports to monitor energy efficiency and recycling compliance.
  • Develops plans and programs responsive to present and anticipated space and facility requirements. Participates in site identification, selection and acquisition activities to ensure the most economical application and utilization of company facility resources.
  • Evaluates the qualifications, professional capabilities and reputation of general contractors, sub-contractors and service contractors available for bid consideration. Evaluates proposals and bids for various design, contracting, and follow-on services as required and recommends bid acceptance.  Executes contracts with contractors for services to be performed.
  • Reviews preliminary and final working drawings for adherence to specifications, design considerations and cost criteria. Coordinates internal and external construction activities to ensure attainment of budget and schedule objectives.
  • Manages camera, card access and key systems for security.
  • Investigates and evaluates new materials, systems, equipment which may benefit the company in its facilities programs. Provides quotes and information to support CapEx requests and input to annual budget for CapEx requirements.
  • Initiates and/or implements continuous improvement actions in support of Company and department goals such a set-up time reduction, lean manufacturing, 6-S etc.
  • Demonstrates commitment to Morgan’s continuous improvement philosophy including support of all quality, safety, productivity and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED along with a well-rounded knowledge of facilities design, construction, administration and maintenance required.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline preferred or technical experience equivalency.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible facilities maintenance, development, construction activities, including the supervision of related budget and staff.
  • Engineering degree desirable.

  • Exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with management and employees.
  • Maintain a cooperative and supportive working relationship with company personnel, outside contractors and regulatory agencies.

  • Travel throughout the plant to supervise and perform job duties.
  • Frequently walks inside and outside to access production buildings.
  • Transports small and large objects with weight of up to 50 lbs manually and/or with material handling equipment such as a forklift.
  • Uses required personal protective safety equipment including, but not limited to eye protection, hearing protection, breathing device/respirator equipment and arc flash protection (as required).
