The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the ongoing managing of general ledger and accounts payable. The Staff Accountant must also be adept at utilizing and enhancing the ERP data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of analysis information to management.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable and general ledger.
  • Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary.
  • Manage departmental expense reporting for the site.
  • Investigate cost accounting data to prepare and effectively explain discrepancies.
  • Review and analyze inventory and margin reports.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Work on special projects as required.
  • Ensure timely submission and error-free financial reports and schedules to management.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations and with Morgan New Bedford, MA EHS Guidelines. Guidelines include but not limited to participation in required EHS training and use of proper PPE. Employees are responsible for reporting hazardous conditions and job-related injuries or illnesses to their supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • The ability to collaborate with a multi-department team
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
  • Individual must be a:
    • Citizen of the United States, or
    • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
    • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) as defined by 22CFR120.15
