The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Major Responsibilities

The candidate will lead the standardization of manufacturing processes and products as part of a capacity optimization and business continuity/risk mitigation initiative.  The candidate will lead the transfer and launch of new products in an expansion manufacturing facility located in San Juan del Rio, MX.  The candidate will collaborate with leadership to support these activities within the SJdR facility and other locations in the business.  The position will require coordination between the development and manufacturing teams across multiple locations.  The candidate will assist in developing production processes as needed to support product launches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Others may be assigned):

• Process Development
  • Qualifies new processes and leads needed changes/projects and improvements during the qualification phase of the part launch.
  • Develops process documentation and maintains Process Work Instructions, Quality Control Plans, Quality Alerts, AMEF (PFMEA).
  • Conducts companywide training on applicable topics with the manufacturing team.
• Quality
  • Monitors the effectiveness of processes from statistical data using Lean Quality Tools.
  • Develops Quality programs, sampling plans for part visual and dimensional requirements.  Data collection through spreadsheets, and electronic data storage.
  • Understands Geometric Dimensioning and tolerance, MSA, and validates test equipment through statistical techniques (i.e. Gage R&R, Gage Linearity, etc)
• Other
  • Integrates product transfers into the Morgan Production System value stream framework.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities with a safety mindset and in accordance with all safety rules and regulations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.in Electromechanics, Mechanical, Electric, Electronic
• 5 to 10 years related experience and /or training.
• Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing systems.
• Prior experience in CNC manufacturing.
• Programing experience on CNC controls
• Prior experience in new product development.
• Prior experience in Statistical Process Control.
• Prior experience in LEAN manufacturing preferred
• Ability to speak English fluently at an intermediate or above level required. Local language fluency.

Mathematical Skills

Training in statistics in school and on-the-job strongly preferred. Geometrical & Trigonometry Knoledge

Computer and Software Skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Minitab.

Working knowledge of 3D Design Suite (CAD), CNC & Mastercam preferred.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and engineering drawings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work performed in an office and factory settings.  Exposure to the manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment.  Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, and odors.  Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting up to 20 lbs as required.

Some travel will be required (up to 30%).
