Responsibilities

OVERVIEW & SCOPE OF ROLE

The Engineering Services Technician has direct responsibility for the safe, efficient repair and preventative servicing of manufacturing equipment and site facilities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Ensure that all Health & Safety at work regulations and Company thinkSAFE / EHS policies are complied with at all times.
  • Perform preventative servicing and equipment breakdown repairs in a timely & effective manner.
  • Perform preventative servicing and breakdown repairs of facility and associated services in a timely & effective manner.
  • Diagnose the root cause of equipment & facility breakdowns and perform high quality repairs to prevent repeat failure. Recommend future improvements that will eliminate / drastically reduce the risk of future failures for the same reason.
  • Work in a proactive manner to ensure backlog work and tasks are completed as quickly as possible.
  • Complete all maintenance documentation and logs fully and to the correct standard. This includes uploading comprehensive entries into the CMMS (C-works system).
  • Work in a methodical, organised & structured manner at all times.
  • Work overtime to support the business at times of high workload or to provide absence or holiday cover.
  • Support the Engineering Services Lead in the planning and scheduling of planned and unplanned work.
  • Support the Engineering Services Lead with the management of external contractors.
  • Ensure that high standards of 6S are maintained within the Maintenance Workshop and Maintenance Stores area at all times. This includes the completion of all daily 6S tasks and the associated checklists.
  • Support the Engineering Services with the controlling of all machine spare parts, maintenance tools & equipment.
  • Liaise with others within the Engineering Services team and ensure handover reports are generated and clearly communicated to peers.
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives across site.
  • Carryout reasonable tasks as requested by the Engineering Services Lead.

 

Key Performance Indicators

  • Maintenance KPI’s to include: -
    • PPM Schedule adherence,
    • Repair completion rate,
    • Workload balance,
    • Percentage of equipment with active PPM plans.
    • Factory delivery performance & lead time.
  • H&S metrics to include LTA & Near miss reporting.
  • 6S Audit scores
  • On-time completion of training.

Additional Requirements

  • Time served apprenticeship in an Engineering discipline.
  • Electrical engineering knowledge / hands on skills.
  • Mechanical engineering knowledge / hands on skills.
  • Working knowledge of PLC's, Robotics and other control systems.
  • Experience in fabricating.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Be prepared to work a variety of shift patterns to support the business. This can range from regular days’ work through to 24/7 continental style shift pattern but will be communicated in advance.
  • Able to identify critical parts and check order levels.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and calibration.
  • A level of capability in general computer skills to include CMMS (C-Works) plus MS Office packages.
  • Ability to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format.
  • Excellent time management, planning and leadership skills.
  • Must have a high safety awareness of self, others and surrounding environment.
