Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

The Lead Quality Engineer role is a position reporting directly to the Quality Manager, ensuring manufacturing processes, methods, equipment, and quality systems meet or exceed the requirements of our customers and 3rd party registrars and are consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and production goals.   The role is an exciting opportunity to join a global, dynamic, Hi-Tech team, supporting the medical and aerospace industries.  We are the industry leader in development and manufacturer of ceramic to metal seals for both Aerospace and Medical markets.  We help improve the quality of life with our implantable medical components, and we ensure the safety of travelers by developing multiple components for the Aerospace industry. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Managing the Quality Engineering roles (Quality Engineers and Supply Quality Engineers)
  • Managing Root Cause Analysis activities stemming from MRB, RMA and CAPA
  • Coordinating validation activities including validation protocols, flow charts, control plans and FMEAs
  • Analyzing/trending non-conformances through NCMRs and RMAs.
  • Analyzing data and generating reports from ERP data using Minitab and Excel.
  • Coordinating RMA processes including approval, verification upon receipt, disposition and issuance of subsequent CAPAs. Responding to customer related SCARs as required.
  • Coordinating capability studies and completing variation reduction activities to improve processes.
  • Implementing and maintaining SPC and SQC utilizing current software.
  • Creating and/or processing ECOs, DCOs, process routers, drawings and other written documentation in accordance with quality system requirements.
  • Assisting in the internal auditing program to sustain certification to ISO standards per ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS 9100, ISO 13485 and NADCAP.
  • Assisting in internal, 3rd party, and customer audits.
  • Assisting in supplier audits and visits as required.
  • Creating, executing and documenting validation protocols and reports (IQ, OQ, PQ) when required. Assisting in DOEs, ANOVA and other analytical methods to optimize processes.
  • Updating and implementing documentation and training related to quality processes such as MRB, RMA and CAPA.
  • Developing and training inspectors and documenting the training using internal procedures and GD&T guidelines. Designing/specifying gauging and test equipment for inspectors.
  • Compiling and writing training material and conducting training sessions on quality tools & techniques.
  • Initializing, programming and operating (as required) CMM and SmartScope as well as other measurement/inspection tools. Improving measurement techniques and detection methods using GRR, MSAs, and poke-a-yoke. 
  • Communicating effectively with production associates to understand issues/concerns and quickly moving to countermeasure.
  • Researching and proposing innovative documentation, training and inspection methods, including electronic record retention, automated visual inspection and inspector certification programs.
  • Knowledge of Solidworks or AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Performing various tasks as needed from supervisor.
  • Conducting all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations and with Morgan New Bedford, MA EHS Guidelines. Guidelines include but not limited to participation in required EHS training and use of proper PPE. Employees are responsible for reporting hazardous conditions and job-related injuries or illnesses to their supervisor.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from an accredited college or university, in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Aerospace/Medical Manufacturing environment.
  • 10+ years as a Quality Engineer.
  • 5+ years Managerial Experience.
  • ASQ-CQE Certification is desirable, but not required.
  • This position requires use of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
