The Electrical Carbon Business of Morgan Advanced Materials designs and manufactures a broad range of high performance solutions for rotary transfer systems, linear transfer systems and electrical carbon systems.

Responsibilities

The Capital Projects Engineer will develop, implement, and manage capital and major maintenance projects for the Americas region, located in Fostoria, Ohio and working as part of a project implementation team for the Americans region.  This position reports to our Engineering Manager who leads a team that executes capital projects for the region.  Ideal candidate will provide technical support in-line with his or her degreed discipline but work with and across all disciplines needed to complete projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Confer with operations, engineers, internal customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products
  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, customer requirements and safety standards
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications
  • Prepare specification for purchase of materials and equipment
  • Supervise and train project team members as necessary
  • Investigate and test vendors’ and competitors’ products
  • Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget
  • Study and prepare technical drawings and specifications to ensure that installations and operations conform to standards and customer requirements
  • Assist in developing capital projects for new equipment and major repairs
  • Develops budgets, estimating labor, material, and construction costs
  • Writes and submits Capital Expenditure requests
  • Evaluates, troubleshoots, and solves equipment problems on the shop floor
  • Assists in training all shop floor associates on manufacturing processes and methods
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety and environmental issues associated with the manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • BS degree in an Engineering discipline is required. (Electrical Engineering highly preferred) 
  • Electrical controls and programming experience is desired.
  • 10 years related experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Trained in the use of AutoCad or Solid Works or equivalent is required.
  • Basic understanding of quality management systems in an ISO 9001/AS 9100
  • Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques is desired
  • Experience with developing/documenting procedures is required

  • This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
  • Individual must be a: Citizen of the United States, or Permanent resident alien of the United States, or Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) as defined by 22CFR120.15
  • Responsible for creating, transmitting, storing, and destroying Controlled Unclassified Information/Technology per government regulation and company procedures
  • Must adhere to the Morgan Technology Transfer Control Plan, government regulations, and company procedures.
  • Assist Export Compliance Manager in classifying new products, materials and processes.
  • Must not export controlled technology to a foreign national without approval from the Export Compliance Manager.
  • Having access to CUI (controlled unclassified information).
