Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Project Engineer will support the development and prototyping of thermal solutions manufactured in Elkhart, utilizing current and future technologies and processes. This position will partner with manufacturing to introduce new product as well as contribute to continuous improvement activities.

 

This is a critical role that will provide a direct technical link from the customer to the manufacturing floor as you will facilitate the prototyping process from concept to production launch. This will require an enhanced knowledge of Elkhart’s current manufacturing processes and capabilities as well as a hands-on approach to furnishing prototypes that meet the customer’s requirements. With cross functional engagement, you will have an opportunity to utilize a broad range of engineering skills to support design (CAD), costing, process documents, and project management.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  • Work closely with the Product Development Manager to support customer technical requirements and provide expert guidance on the current manufacturing capabilities.
  • Partner with commercial and customer engagement, support the design, development, and prototyping of thermal solutions manufactured in Elkhart.
  • Develop processes, tooling, and documentation as required for new and existing processes.
  • Work with commercial team to verify costing of new products and works to ensure the successful integration into production.
  • Hands-on approach to developing prototypes with support from production team.
  • Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor learning processes, materials, capabilities, and products.
  • Establish strong working relationships with production team and leadership to become a technical expert.
  • Remain current in required engineering disciplines as they relate to process design, operational excellence, and current site-specific performance measures.
  • Works closely with production planning and quality to coordinate resource availability and quality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

 

  • Knowledge and practical experience with CNC machining and programing.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Ability to analyze data and plan improvement activities.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes.

SCHEDULE DESCRIPTION

 

The typical schedule for this position is an 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekend work as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution (Mechanical, Project, Manufacturing, Industrial)
  • Minimum (3) three years of experience in manufacturing or related industry 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Solid Works
  • Proficiency in Mini-Tab or other statistical software
  • Individual must be a
    • Citizen of the United States, or
    • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
    • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324(a)(3)
