The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data requirements of designs or applications.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and provide recommendations to the maintenance crew.
  • Drive improvements to equipment and processes to enhance efficiency and ensure worker safety.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of production, including the selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, tooling, and operation of product designs.
  • Create outline designs, drawings, and documents using CAD/Modeling Software.
  • Work on conceptual design layout, prototyping, and fixture/tooling design.
  • Prepare project status reports and take responsibility for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical details of the projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals for customers and focus on designing for cost.
  • Perform all job tasks in a safe manner in compliance with company safety programs and procedures.
  • Support value stream lead roles and responsibilities, such as optimizing production processes, value stream mapping, daily group accountability meetings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align production goals and implement continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean six sigma.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Applied Science, Mathematics, Material Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of a 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Possess creative analytical skills and excellent troubleshooting
  • Detail orientated and possess a good work ethic, motivated and resourceful
  • Results driven and willing to exceed goals and objectives
  • Able to communicate with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing
  • Hands on approach to engineering. Ability to take something apart, fix it and put it back together.
  • 2+ years industrial floor/shop experience
  • Interest in metals processing; melting/alloying, casting, rolling, drawing, atomizing, punching, tape casting, heat treatment and brazing.
  • Interest in start to finish 3D/2D design and outsourcing of parts. Discovery/development of vendors for a variety of materials and process sourcing.
  • Interest and ability to learn from, work with and teach technicians on the shop floor for improvement of equipment, processes and safety

Salary Range: Salaried exempt $105,000 - $115,000 plus bonus potential 10%
