Overview

Responsible for operating a variety of equipment to support the production in a safe manner.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Perform charge preparation and melt operations
  • Set up and operate vacuum cast furnaces to make a variety of castings to very close tolerances. Select, insert, position, check sizes and secure dies and cores as necessary. Mount, secure, clean and spray molds. Slag off and pour metal at proper temperature
  • Heats up ovens and loads molds in preparation for pouring verifying molds to the casting schedule, loading position, and verifies oven temperature
  • Responsible for adherence to melt and casting process through controls, measuring, documentation, offer recommendation for process improvements
  • Maintains casting log
  • Participate in teams to improve all aspects of casting production
  • Maintain clean, orderly, safe facilities
  • Prepare and send metal samples to lab for analysis. Calculate and adjust, weighing addictions to heats, as required to bring chemistry to specified levels. Maintain accurate records of melt activity information.
  • Prepare and inspect per procedures
  • Assist in die setups and transfer of metal (i.e. operation of overhead crane, etc.)
  • Clean and maintain furnaces and related equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Experience in foundry, smelting, metal casting, heat treating furnace operations and/or equivalent manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of vacuum and/or hydrogen furnaces preferred.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions normally acquired by completing high school.
  • 1-2 year of field experience preferred
  • Use ordinary mathematics, decimals and conversions.
  • Make simple use of schedules and specifications, requiring interpretation of forms, records and comparable data
  • Heavy physical demand consisting of frequently lifting or moving average weight materials, pouring molds, and performing other duties
  • Continuous mental and visual attention in checking, pouring performing other related duties.

Individual must be a:

  • Citizen of the United States, or
  • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
  • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) as defined by 22CFR120.15

Salary: $27.00 per hour.
