Responsibilities

 

Overview:

Are you skilled in cost analysis and eager to take on a pivotal role within a manufacturing environment? Morgan Advanced Materials is looking for a Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in St. Marys, PA. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate cost data across our three manufacturing sites in Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Analyze and report on financial margins and inventory for all sites, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly financial closing processes, including journal entries and inventory reconciliations.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations Teams to ensure accurate shop floor reporting and inventory management.
  • Oversee the annual cost roll process, establishing standard rates that encapsulate all projected manufacturing costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement by investigating production cost variances and identifying their root causes.
  • Maintain robust internal controls, perform physical inventories, and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

 

What You'll Bring:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Cost Accountant within a manufacturing environment.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively across various departments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics and IFRS is advantageous.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years experience as Cost Accountant in a Manufacturing environment.
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, or commensurate experience
  • Excellent analysis skills; extremely proficient with Excel
  • The ability to collaborate with a multi-department team
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards. IFRS knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics a plus

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data
  • Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves
  • Strong organizational and communicational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work well with peers and superiors in all departments of the Company
  • Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company
  • Must have good time management, planning and negotiation skills
  • Must adhere to all Company policies

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for the majority of an 8-hour workday
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds
  • Must be capable of traveling within the US
