The Thermal Ceramics division designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of thermal insulation products that significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions in a variety of high temperature processing applications. Responsibilities

The Safety / Industrial Hygienist will be responsible for implementing policies, analyzing data, conducting inspections, and facilitating training to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. This position is responsible for the administration of the health and safety programs, audits, and certifications.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the Morgan H&S Framework to maintain compliance with Morgan Standards and OSHA standards.
  • Monitors and promotes H&S initiatives such as near miss, Take 5, and think SAFE programs.
  • Conducts Industrial Hygiene sampling for Morgan sites and externally for Morgan customer sites.
  • Maintain chain of custody records for all samples and calibration of equipment.
  • Travel to customer sites is expected to accomplish external Industrial Hygiene sampling.
  • Provide report to customers on IH sampling results and recommendations for improvements.
  • Maintain inventory of IH sampling supplies and equipment and keep in good working order.
  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks and provides corrective actions if needed.
  • Reports out weekly, monthly Key Process Indicator detail.
  • Administers health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, powered industrial vehicle, and other relevant topics.
  • Creates and maintains Health and Safety training records.
  • Assist with performing Risk Analysis and ergonomic evaluations.
  • Responsible for Safety manual updates and programs.
  • Tracks non-conformances until closure with appropriate documentation.
  • Tracks risk management activities, reporting and audits.
  • Facilitate compliance with emergency equipment and assist safety service company with monthly inspections.
  • Orchestrates and conducts biweekly safety committee meetings.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or related discipline required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety required; preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Industrial Hygiene certification is strongly preferred.

  • Individual must be a
    • Citizen of the United States, or
    • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
    • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324(a)(3)
  • Ability to obtain passport is required.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Mathematical skills ability to computer and interpret rate, ratio, percentage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Strong work practices and caching skills.
  • Ability to maintain good organizational skills for record keeping and data collection.
  • Outstanding cross-functional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.

 

SCHEDULE DESCRIPTION

The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8 hours per day. Must be willing to work overtime as needed. This is not a remote position.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Frequent use of computer equipment (mouse, keyboard, etc.).
  • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department within a manufacturing environment and wear, when required, personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear plugs and safety shoes.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position will work mainly in a controlled office environment, with periods of time on the production floor.
  • The noise level on the production floor can be up to 85 decibels.
  • During summer months, employee may have to work in temperatures as high as 110 degrees for prolonged periods of time.
  • When on the production floor the employee will work around and near rotating equipment and powered industrial vehicles.
  • Required to wear steel toed shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs in the manufacturing area.
  • Respirators may be required in specific areas of the plant.
