The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

 

Key Figures: Revenue £1,112m (2022), ~8,500 employees, manufacturing in 30+ countries, and a global customer portfolio. A UK PLC with head office located in Windsor, Berkshire UK.  Listed on London Stock Exchange; Member of the FTSE 250 Index.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Month end management accounts and reporting for Stourport site
  • Departmental reporting as required
  • Posting month-end journals
  • Detailed analysis of spend/budget variances, identify variances and drive actions to eliminate
  • Prepare detailed analysis for annual budget, including forecasts and assist with the preparation of the annual budget
  • Cashflow forecasting
  • Effective cost control for the business and day to day operations
  • Review and maintain the standard costing system
  • Support the Finance Manager in producing robust forecasts of financial performance, and identifying (rapidly and early) those areas where the financial outlook for the business requires corrective management action
  • Working hands on with the production and engineering teams to identify process improvement/cost saving ideas, develop plans and implement
  • Pro-active management and control of working capital; own and drive projects to reduce stock holding, creditors and debtors
  • Create live updates throughout the trading month and put necessary control tools in place (e.g. to avoid surprises at month end). Weekly information gathering and sharing data in a format that can be understood by all
  • Monthly reporting duties in close liaison with the Shared Service Centre
  • Ensure the business maintains robust internal controls which will ensure compliance with financial regulations and Morgan group policies
  • Ensure that investments (including Capex) are properly justified and prove to be effective to meet the business objectives; monitor and ensure these objectives are achieved
  • Manage the accounting entries for inventory, including analysis to support understanding of standard costs, variances arising, inventory valuation, provision for obsolescence, intercompany transactions and goods in transit
  • Partner with the business; provide informed reports and analyses for management, in line with business needs and objectives

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience experience in a financial role is essential
  • Experience in a similar manufacturing business is desirable
  • Strong intellect with an ability to rapidly identify key issues, to see the big picture and apply the “common sense” test.
  • Excellent communication skills that focus on simplicity and clarity of presentation, both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse team in terms of seniority, function, etc.
  • Able to influence people at all levels of the organisation and secure their buy in and commitment.
  • High energy and an ability to demonstrate resilience in achieving goals/targets.
  • Attention to detail and an ability to deliver to the highest standard, within rigid timeframes.
  • A team player, working from own initiative.
  • Responsive and self motivated.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving.

 

Qualifications:

  • Studying toward CIMA qualification
