Summary of role

The Production Manager is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day production of the plant in a safe environment. This fundamentally includes accountability for providing products on time and at cost and quality. It also includes providing leadership, guidance, performance management and coaching to the supervisor management team to enhance their capability and productivity.

Delivering against both the lean and safety agenda will be two key priorities for this role.

Responsibilities

Production management

  • Leads the overall production activity in order to meet the customers’ requirements
  • As part of the Site Management Team (SMT), the production manager supports the generation of strategic action plans to firmly establish the production as a reference partner.
  • Optimizes resources (staff, equipment, scheduling, processes) so that production lines produce the requested output on time, at the required quality level, at or below the planned cost whilst keeping inventory at or below plan targets.
  • Proposes and pilots new projects for improvement and lean manufacturing (flow, organization, investments)
  • Prepares reports on KPIs
    People management
  • As a leader, brings a new mindset in the factory both on safety behaviours and production efficiency through its management and Lean methodologies.
  • Ensures the development of the team’s competencies.
  • Through active personal leadership creates a motivated and engaged climate in order to deliver production goals effectively and efficiently.
  • Creates and maintains a positive and collaborative Employee Relations environment and a good social climate.
  • Manages relations with the Works Council with the Human Resources Manager.
  • Collaborates with all supervisors and leads them

 

Environmental, Safety, Risk & Compliance

  • To be committed to the Group-wide ethics and compliance programme, RBP; ensuring a common approach to doing business the right way and adhering at all times to the core elements of the programme - values, policies/guidance, training/education and compliance risk assessment.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Essential

  • High school diploma is accepted if compensated with a strong experience
  • Ideally a technical background is preferred

 

Experience:

  • Previous experience, ideally in a production role or managerial role
  • Good English even if not fully fluent
  • Experience in labour relations preferred
  • Soft skills: hands-on person willing to do himself, tenacious, able to build a team and open relationships
  • Problem solving attitude
  • Previous experience in lean manufacturing
