Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

The Quality Lead is a position reporting directly to the Quality Manager. The Quality Lead is responsible for guiding activities within the Receiving Inspection Department and providing technical support for Incoming Inspection. 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee Incoming Inspectors for inspection technique and ways of working.
  • Perform mechanical and visual inspection of incoming raw components (ceramics, metals, gold, & rubies) using equipment and tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators , gage blocks, gage pins, reticles, CMM, vision systems (i.e. OGP), and optical comparators to Engineering prints, procedures, work instructions, and methods.
  • Responsible for training / educating Incoming Inspectors on Receiving Inspection procedures, work instructions, inspection equipment, and proper inspection techniques.
  • Actively support the Supplier Quality Engineer to address non-conformances thru Quality Notice submissions.
  • Development Receiving Inspection plans and methods for Inspection of Incoming material.
  • Support continuous improvement and digital transformation of Incoming Inspection.
  • Set up/operate CMM/Vision System, Talyrond 365, profilometer, and other measurement equipment as required.
  • Maintain NCMR log to be used to evaluate suppliers.
  • Prioritizes workflow and schedules inspectors accordingly.
  • Responsible for coordinating RTV activities with QE assistance if required.
  • Records test/inspection procedures and results, numerical and graphical data.
  • Perform and assist with inspection criteria of New Product Development (NPI).
  • Perform maintenance to equipment as needed and recommends new equipment and/or inspection method.
  • Develops and designs new or modified inspection fixtures for improved repeatability/reliability as needed.
  • Set up/operate CMM machine when required.
  • Perform 1st article inspections as required.
  • Review Incoming Inspector non-conformance prior to NCR to ensure accurate rejections.
  • Assure Incoming Inspection room equipment is in proper working order.
  • Acts as Liaison between Inspectors and Engineering staff
  • Analyze and inspect material compositions based on certs and outside testing reports.
  • Research and analyze compositions as necessary
  • Ability to use GD & T symbols and measurement methods
  • Performs various tasks as assigned by Supply Quality Engineer.
  • Attend IMRB meetings and provide technical demonstrations of non-conforming findings when necessary
  • Incoming Inspection work area 6S owner, responsible to meet company expectations of work area.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 3- 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to carry out written, oral, or diagram form instructions.
  • Must be able to interpret drawings and technical documents
  • Individual must be a:
    • Citizen of the United States, or
    • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
    • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) as defined by 22CFR120.15

Preferred Skills

  • Basic math skills.
  • Machining/Inspecting experience
  • Extensive drawing/blueprint experience
  • Ability to program and write inspection procedures on CMM and Vision system equipment.
  • ASQ certifications a plus
  • Use and understanding of basic statistics a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience with Excel and Mini-Tab
