The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities

Responsible for providing support to controller in accounting and financial activities, including financial summary statements and forecasting. Also the management of KPIs and the leadership of improvement projects are a priority. Establishing and maintaining internal controls are part of the role.

 

  • Weekly review of kardex inventory (entrances and consumptions of warehouse).
  • Monthlycheck and analysis of excess/obsolete material.
  • Update std cost by CER. (Mexico Production, COE and Palmer/Rod manufacture
  • Cost variances understand and document reason for variances, determine and propose actions as applicable
  • Develop estimates of new and proposed product costs.
  • Inventory valuation review and analyze, prepare monthly reporting that can be reviewed by Finance managment
  • Monthly raw material account reconciliation, ensure fluctuations are documented and explained to the Controller for proper review and sign off by the Controller
  • Levels of rods reclaim analytics with recommendations of change or analysis as applicable
  • Levels of purchases by warehouse analytics with recommendations of change or analysis as applicable
  • Support savings project and compile savings reconciliation and review
  • Monthly cycle counts/wall to wall (WIP, FG & Raw materials) finance functional support for operational activity supports variance analytics
  • Weekly scrap report from engineering team, review and report analytics by CER  with Controller
  • Support Sox implementation and sustainability of SOX controls for finance department for assigned balance sheet items (Intercompany, inventory, scrap, sales, closing process monitoring (close checklist, JE approval)
  • Tracking and analysis of gas, electricity and water.
  • Compile and input KPIs for weekly forecast meeting:
    • Security indicators (provided by EHS team).
    •

    • Check and analysis of labor (overtime, headcount, working hours, salary & others).
    • Inventory levels.
    • Consumptions of raw material.

  • Enter data in STAR:
    • Sales & Margins for Mex Sales & Mex Prod & COE.
    • Max Matrix (quality indicators) for Mex Sales & Mex Prod.
    • Intercompany balances for Mex Sales & Mex Prod & COE.
      • Confirmation and supporting with accounting team.
    • EHS & HR for Mex Sales & Mex Prod & COE.
    • Profit Bridge for Mex Prod. Develop and maintain monthly reporting for review and sign off by Superior
  • Enter data in LeanDNA:
    • Labor (overtime, working hours, salary & others).
    • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  •  
  • Exchange rate tracking and validates that the Morgan rate is the same in JD Edwards
  • Monthly KPIs and collection data for MIPack. (preparation and consolidation of all the report) and analysis of deviations
  • Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records (JDE reports).
  • Weekly inventory stock report (shipments & scrap vs reported sales by PA).
  • Weekly Sales report.
  • Tracking of pending cores to be invoiced by PA.
  • Tracking of non-recurrent transfers/shipments to PA.
  • Final validation of financial statements in STAR Ensure that STAR validations and “Run controls” are run successfully and clear of errors
  • Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
  • Hard month-end closing requirements:
    • Management of month-end task checklist (review & sign).
    • Management of month-end reconciliations checklist (review & sign).
    • Journal entries report review approvers.
    • Inventory reconciliation completed by month end
  • Palmer support validate that flow of product is captured in JDE and it is comparable to existing costing or note and report deviations
  • Functional expert of purchase requisitions (in progress to migrate to JDE).
  • COE responsible:
    • Tracking of maquila invoice.
    • Intercompany balances.
    • Detail and support of billed expenses.
    •  
    • Prepare income statement for analysis and provide to Controller.
  • Support the Controller and Assistant Controller with ad hoc analysis and projects as they arise

Qualifications

 

 

  • Bachelor degree, preferred in Accounting or finance
  • 3-5 years experience performing accounitng, financial analysis and month-end close activities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Strong analytical, technology, communication and organizational skills
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting).
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
