Overview

 

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities: The Material Engineer develop, process, and test materials used to create a range of products.

 

Salary range: 80K - 95K plus a potential 10% bonus 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and evaluate new projects, consulting with other engineers and managers as necessary.
  • Prepare proposals, analyze labor costs, write reports, and perform other managerial tasks.
  • Design and direct the testing of processing procedures.
  • Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to the design objectives of processes or products.
  • Evaluate the impact of materials processing on the environment.
  • This position supports materials and process developments, characterization, and failure analysis with a focus on metal alloys.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to provide information necessary to verify eligibility and receive authorization to access Controlled Unclassified Information related to U.S. Department of Defense.
  • Issues/updates operating procedures and work instructions for testing and processing, material specifications, and operating conditions for new applications.
  • Provides technical support to the production areas.
  • Maintains vendor relations to remain current on product applications.
  • Outlines and manages development projects for performance and processing improvements to existing material and testing technologies.
  • Anticipates, understands, and meets internal/external customers’ needs and expectations. Develops solutions based on a customer centric approach.
  • Drives and supports innovative ideas, while taking informed risks to seek and develop new products.
  • Prepares various reports and correspondence as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • A minimum of a BS in Physical Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Mechanical engineering (with demonstrated physical metallurgical experience) or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience with processing-microstructure-properties relationships and a strong knowledge of fundamental materials processing.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicates clearly and concisely, while engaging proactively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Material Joining, ceramics, metals, refractory materials.
